Here’s the portfolio of my work as an actor and filmmaker. Showing some roles I’ve played, and short films I directed, wrote, filmed and edited. Having experience behind and in front of the camera. Giving you an idea of the types of themes and styles I explored over the years. For my Presenting module in the MA: Screen Acting and Performance course at University for the Creative Arts, we presented a different type of show every week. Allowing us to try out various styles and roles to help find the area we were best suited as a presenter. I found I worked best with a live audience where I was free to ad-lib whilst also following a clear structure. Here you can view a clip from each type of presenting which I submitted for my portfolio at the end of the module. Empathising keywords to give audio clues for the audience who may be occupied with other things. For the 2nd segment, I had to read the news blind. I’ve not seen the autocue before, I’m reading it live in the studio. Piece to Camera - For this segment, we had to find an interesting background and improvise a story around it. I improvised a story about the Great Elf War and was able to respond to my surroundings. Kate’s phone binged unexpectedly but I incorporated it into my show seamlessly. Influencer - I had to record a video as an influencer. So based on MrBeast I had a challenge happen behind me whilst I did a sponsored advert. Which keeps the audience engaged whilst I was also advertising a brand. I was able to do it quickly as well since the challenge didn’t take as long as I expected. Talk Show Host - We split into pairs and took turns to interview each other. I spoke with Jade about her work beforehand but still saved some questions for the show to keep it fresh. After talking about how many gags they have in the comedy club I was able to follow up with a question about her favourite prank. Live Event Host - I was asked to help host an Oscars watch party to raise money for a student’s film. It was my first time hosting an event and we only had time to write our cue cards that day. Luckily the audience were responsive so we were able to have good interactions with them and make it fun. OOV Reading - For this segment we first spilt off into groups and had to record footage about Valentine’s Day. We then wrote an autocue to that footage to be read in the studio. Since we edited it beforehand I was able to practice timing the autocue to the footage. So when I read it in the studio my words fit the images and didn’t fall behind or go over. Children’s TV - We looked beforehand at different children’s shows and how to balance being warm and welcoming without being patronising to the kids. So to strike that balance I tried to make it funny and relatable. I was reading Dairy of a Wimpy Kid from the perspective of how kids felt in school and what the character Greg was empathising. Audio Work - We did a Podcast with topics led by me. Bringing my views on the subjects but also listening to my guests’ points of view. Discussing cinemas still being relevant in the streaming age. The other example is an audio drama scene where a man filling out a questionnaire gets too personal. It was a great task to convey the awkward situation by only using my voice. Game Show Host - Here I got two examples of hosting game shows. I spoke a lot about this in my presentation, how I took Rob Brydon’s approach to hosting and adapted his structure to organise the show. Bradley Nathaniel-Thomas Acting Showreel 2024

This showreel encompasses my work on the MA Screen Acting and Performance course at the University for the Creative Arts. Plus a few theatre projects and TV work. Email - bradley.nt.actor@gmail.com Spotlight Profile - https://app.spotlight.com/2019-5611-2054 Short films from UCA included: The Ones Left Behind – On the screen acting module. We had to improvise a short scene with the characters we created through a hot-seating interview task. Which we then scripted to form a short film. This created a story about loss and grief. How losing someone affects the people left behind. I felt the improvisation helped us to make the scenes feel more real as our dialogue flowed naturally. “Adrenaline” – Also for the screen acting module, we had to adapt a scripted scene to form our own short story. Based on Birdman by Alejandro G. Iñárritu comes this short scene that’s centred around a love triangle. In our version, the dialogue is split between three characters instead of two. Which you will see in the full short film. I think it helped to approach the script as its own short story so we weren’t trying to replicate the original film it comes from. Loop Pool – an interactive time loop film that I started to develop on the digital performer module. Where the audience would guide Jack’s choices, uncovering more about the characters to find the truth and escape the loop. This clip is from a proof of concept but I hope to develop this story further one day. With many choices which was difficult to come up with but a fun new way of writing. Seeing the different ways you could take a character. Dear, Future Me – This is my final major project so I set myself the task of making the biggest short film I ever made. It involves a student photographer called Clive who meets his future selves. Discovering more about himself and the different person he could be. Where I play all versions of Clive which was quite a challenge. I'm really proud of how it’s turned out. I didn’t have a crew, had some help with a few scenes but mostly had to film it by myself. This I found challenged my ability to adapt between roles. I had to switch from director to actor (for multiple roles). Guiding my performance to best fit the shots I wanted. The Last Trip – Finally, I didn’t just act in short films for my course. I also collaborated with other students, including Sudrak Kar from the MA Animation course. Who created this brilliant rotoscope-animated experimental short film. About an old man who relives his memories from a spoiled photograph. I portray the old man throughout his life. It’s crazy to see what Sudrak created from the footage we shot. We filmed it around our student accommodation which as you guess looks nothing like the locations in the film. I lay on a table instead of a bed. Also, I had never done a rotoscope-animated film before. Found it took a lot of imagination and speaking with Sudrak to understand what would be happening in the scenes. Also making sure the expressions came through on my face so it would be easier for Sudrak to draw over them. TV work: The Real Serpent: Investigating A Serial Killer - This documentary series for Channel 4 centres around serial killer Charles Sobhraj, known as ‘The Serpent’. Who undergoes interrogation from experts to get to the truth. I briefly play Dominique Renelleau, a Frenchman who managed to escape Charles Sobhraj. It was my first time working on a documentary and provided me a good insight into how they are made. We filmed multiple scenes so the editor had a selection of shots to choose from. Theatre work: A Time Traveller’s Guide to Theatrical Brecon - This was a promenade performance set around the town of Brecon. Bringing the history of Brecon’s theatre to life. I played Roger Kemble and John Boles Watson. It was directed by Joan Manley, and run by the company Brecon Little Theatre. This clip comes from a film version we shot a week before the performances. It was great fun to perform out in the town with the audience being locals in Brecon. Not being limited to a stage. However did present challenges with a noisy landscape. But we stuck to the scenes and adjusted our voices so the audience could hear. The performances went well. A Midsummer Night’s Dream - This abridged adaption located Shakespeare's play in a contemporary setting, of a patriarchal, homophobic society, but aimed to raise the spirits! Directed by David Ian Rabey, Shannon Black and Elizabeth Sharpe. This was my theatre project back on my BA Drama and Theatre course at Aberystwyth University. Where I played Demetrius. Before I used to struggle with Shakespeare but found I learned to understand the words in this one. I saw an inner conflict with Demetrius. I believe he always wanted to be with Helena but thought he should be with Hermia. He knows he isn’t a good guy and is unworthy of Helena’s love. The potion brought out his best qualities for her and made him prove his worth.

A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare. This abridged adaption locates Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream in a contemporary setting, of a patriarchal, homophobic society, but aims to raise the spirits! The humans do not know what awaits them in the forest as they try to find freedom, among mischievous forces, which prove capable of altering their experiences and perspectives delightfully and/or shockingly. How many people describe battles from which they have kept at a safe distance! To play my part properly, I must just rehearse it a little. Here is the room where I am brought as messenger, and this lantern is Alcmena to whom I have to address myself. [He gestures toward the lantern.] "Madam, Amphitryon my master and your consort," (good! a fine beginning!) "whose mind is always dwelling on your charms, has selected me from amongst all others, to inform you of the success of our arms, and of the longing he has to be near you." -- "Ah! truly, my good Sosia, I am delighted to see you again." -- "Madam, you do me too much honour, and men will envy my destiny." (Well answered!) -- "How fares Amphitryon?" -- "Madam, like a man of courage in all engagements where glory calls him." (Very well! a fine thought!) -- "When will he make my heart happy by his dear return?" -- "As soon as he can, madam; but much later than his heart wishes." (Ah!) -- "But in what state has war left him? What does he say? What does he do? Satisfy my heart a little." -- "He says less than he does, madam, and makes the enemy tremble." (Dear me! where does my mind find all these pretty sayings!) -- "What are the rebels doing? Tell me what has befallen them?" -- "They could not resist our shock, madam: we have cut them all to pieces; put Pteralas, their chief, to death; taken Telebos by storm." -- "Ah! what success! Everybody’s out of work or scared of losing their job, the dollar buys a nickel’s worth, banks are going bust, shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter, punks are running wild in the streets, and there’s nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do and there’s no end to it. We know the air’s unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat and we sit and watch our teevees while some local newscaster tells us today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that’s the way it’s supposed to be. We all know things are bad. Worse than bad. They’re crazy. It’s like everything’s going crazy. So we don’t go out any more. We sit in the house and slowly the world we live in gets smaller and all we ask is, please, at least leave us alone in our own living rooms. Let me have my toaster and TV and my hairdryer and my steel-belted radials and I won’t say anything, just leave us alone. Well, I’m not going to leave you alone. I want you to get mad. I don’t want you to protest. I don’t want you to riot. I don’t want you to write to your congressmen. Because I wouldn’t know what to tell you to write. I don’t know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the defense budget and the Russians and crime in the street. All I know is, first you’ve got to get mad. You’ve got to say: ‘I’m a human being, goddammit. My life has value.’ So I want you to get up right now. I want you to get out of your chairs and go to the window. Right now. I want you to go to the window, open it and stick your head out and yell. I want you to yell, ’I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take this any more.’ Get up from your chairs. Go to the window. Open it. Stick out your head and yell. And keep yelling. First you’ve got to get mad. When you’re mad enough we’ll figure out what to do. It's sad that we're saying goodbye to the 12th Doctor but also exciting because we still have a Christmas special where he teams up with the 1st Doctor and we got Jodie Whittaker as the 13th Doctor!!! I think Jodie was excellent on Broadchurch, where she played a mother who overcome her grief and helped people deal with their problems. Putting them first, which is perfect for the Doctor.
